Medvedev Doubtful

Andrei Medvedev said on Wednesday his chances of playing in next week's Australian Open were "very slim."

Medvedev is suffering from tendinitis in his right knee and withdrew from this week's New South Wales Open without hitting a ball.

If he is unable to play in Melbourne, the world number six from Ukraine will be in good company. Andre Agassi, Boris Becker, Michael Chang, Sergi Bruguera, Richard Krajicek and John McEnroe have already said they will miss the first Grand Slam tournament of the year.
