Injury Costs Weder

Injury cost Olympic champion Gustav Weder of Switzerland the chance of his sixth consecutive European two-man bobsleigh title when he finished third to German Christoph Langen.

Weder strained a thigh muscle at the start of the first of two runs Wednesday and lost 0.28 seconds on world champion Langen. Though he produced a better time than Langen's Germany I bob in the second, he had to settle for bronze behind Guenther Huber of Italy. Langen and Peer Joechel took gold in a total of two minutes 00.45 seconds.
