Hartford Downs Pittsburgh

HARTFORD, Connecticut -- Ex-Penguin Randy Cunneyworth's go-ahead goal midway through the second period sparked a five-goal explosion as the surprising Hartford Whalers beat the slumping Pittsburgh Penguins 7-2.

Sean Burke made 29 saves as the Whalers, winners of six of eight, snapped a six-game winless streak against Pittsburgh.

Seven different players scored for Hartford on Sunday, which beat Pittsburgh for the first time since Nov. 2, 1991

Kevin Stevens and Joe Mullen tallied for the Penguins, who are winless in their last four games since learning that Mario Lemieux would be lost until March.

Sabres 3, Maple Leafs 3, OT. In Buffalo, Mark Osborne and Dmitri Mironov scored third-period goals to lift struggling Toronto into a 3-3 draw with Buffalo. The tie stretched Toronto's winless skid to six (0-4-2).

Alexander Mogilny had a goal and an assist for the Sabres. Ken Baumgartner, who had one assist in his previous 40 games, set up two strikes for Toronto.
