Aid Worker Freed

British aid worker Calum Gardner was freed by his Somali abductors early Wednesday, 42 hours after being kidnapped outside his office in Mogadishu.

Gardner phoned his father in Britain soon after his release to report that he was well and safe in the World Food Program compound in the Somali capital.

Gardner, 35, was kidnapped by three gunmen Monday morning as he walked between the World Food Program's Mogadishu office and his house. The gunmen sped off in a Toyota car with Gardner bundled inside.
