Oil Tenders Awarded

MOSCOW (MT) -The U. S. firm Amoco and the Anglo-Dutch Shell won a tender competition for the right to mine two big oil fields in the Khanty-Mansiisk region in northern Siberia, Interfax reported Wednesday.

Amoco won the right, in partnership with the Russian companies, Yugraneft and Yuganskneft, to mine the Priobsk field which is expected to yield 360 million tons over the next 20 years, investing $60 million. Shell won the rights to four other fields which are expected to yield 63 million tons of oil, involving an investment of $53 million.
