Man Killed Falling From UPDK Block

Moscow police on Tuesday ruled as "accidental" the death of a Russian man who fell from a ninth-story balcony of a foreigner's apartment block on Kutuzovsky Prospekt last week.

According to police, the victim - whom they identified only by his last name, Klyuchevsky - had been posing for photos on the balcony when he slipped and fell.

The accident took place on June 28 at 2: 40 A. M. in the UPDK building located at 9 Kutuzovsky Prospekt, according to Nikolai Yegorov, head administrator of the building.

According to the police, Klyuchevsky, 21, had been drinking alcohol with a friend before stepping out on the balcony.

"He was drunk and lost balance as the rail was very low", said Vladimir Petrov, an investigator at police station No. 75. Klyuchevsky died instantly from the fall, Yegorov said.

Klyuchevsky lived in the apartment that belonged to his grandmother, who currently lives in Germany. His mother lives in the United States, Yegorov said.
