Subsistence Level: Cost Keeps Rising

According to Mosgorkomstat (the Moscow City Committee on Statistics) the bare minimum necessary for survival is now 9, 400 rubles per month for Muscovites. It consists of 19 food products (183 grams of regular sausage, 92 grams of smoked sausage, eight packs of cigarettes, etc. ) according to prices as of April 27. This sum does not take into account prices at the city farmer's markets.

This figure has increased 13 percent over March, and is 2. 3 times higher than in December.

If we count the prices at the farmer's markets, a subsistence level income is 10, 200 rubles.

This figure is much lower in other parts of Russia. The average amount is 8, 100 rubles, 8, 700 if the prices at the farmer's markets are added in.
