Gasoline Prices Raised

The Moscow city government raised gasoline prices Wednesday by 50 percent, bringing the price of the top-grade A-92 gas to 37 rubles a liter.

Motorists had widely anticipated the move, and many had already queued up at gas stations in late December to stock up.

Over the last year gas pump costs have risen steadily - doubling several times and even quadrupling. A year ago, Russians paid 1. 20 rubles a liter.
