Family hopes to visit defector

Cynthia Hamilton has packed her bags to come to Moscow to retrieve her father, the 75-year-old American defector who was found in a Russian psychiatric hospital last month. But a family reunion won't take place until a number of bureaucratic obstacles are cleared. ""I am very anxious to see him"", said Hamilton, 38, of Union City, Georgia, who last saw her father 30 years ago. ""But we are still working on getting a visa and finding a hospital for my father. We hope to be there by the beginning of July"". 'Victor Hamilton, who was found on May 21 in Special Hospital No. 5, about 50 kilometers southwest of Moscow, defected in 1962. According to Hamilton's daughter, the U. S. State Department is insisting that a psychiatric hospital bed be found in the United States before it will allow Hamilton back into the country. A U. S. Embassy spokesman here declined to comment on the Hamilton case.
