More Than Moscow

Italian businesses have spread all over Russia from Moscow to Krasnodar to the Yamal and Komsomolsk-on-Amur. This map is just a selection of the companies who have laid down roots in Russia. The range of business is vast from energy giants to confectionery and greenhouses.

1. Odintsovo

Cremonini is one of biggest European operators in the food sector, active in three business segments: production, distribution and catering.  It has a meat plant in Odintsovo in the Moscow region which produces burgers for McDonalds. www.cremonini.it

2. Moscow

Eni is an integrated energy company which is active in more than 70 countries. It has a strategic agreement with Russian energy giant Gazprom until 2012. One of its key partnerships is in the South Stream project, the gasline project to bring gas from Russia to Europe via the Black Sea. www.enel.com

Мartini & Rossi is a multinational alcohol beverage company whose roots go back to the mid 19th century. Actor Jude Law visited Moscow recently to take part in Martini's "All That Glam" charity event. www.marini.com

Pirelli produces tires for various types of vehicle. It is the world's fifth largest tire manufacturer. The Pirelli 2011 calendar was given its world premier in Moscow this year. www.pirelli.com

3. Tver

DKC produces metal and plastic materials for electric systems and has a training center for specialists in Tver.  www.dkc.ru

4. Saint Petersburg

Casa Leto has been ranked by many as one of the best luxury boutique hotels in St. Petersburg. www.casaleto.com

5. Stupino

Marazzi is a leading international player in the ceramic tiles sector. It has a plant that produces ceramic tiles in Stupino in the Moscow region. www.marazzi.it

Gruppo Concorde is one of the world's leading players in the porcelain industry. They have a facility for producing porcelain tiles in Stupino. www.gruppoconcorde.it/

6. N.Novgorod

Perfetti van Melle is a global manufacturer of confectionery and gum. The company, which is behind the Chupa Chups brand among others, has been in Russia since the early 1990s. It has a facility in Nizhny Novgorod.

7. Kirov

Candy is one of the world leaders in producing household appliances. The company has a washing machine factory in Kirov.

8. The Yamal Nenets region

Enel is the largest electricity operator in Italy and the second biggest utility in Europe in terms of installed capacity. It controls Enel OGK-5, one of the leading wholesale power generating companies in Russia. Enel together with ENI has part ownership of SeverEnergia which has active operations in the Yamal Nenets region in western Siberia. www.enel.com

9. Krasnodar

Agro-Ital-Servis is a company based in Krasnodar in southern Russia which specializes in greenhouses for horticulture and floriculture. www.agroitalservis.ru

10. Belgorod

Parmalat is an Italian food group active in milk & dairy products and fruit-based beverages. It has  production facilities in Belgorod and Yekaterinburg. www.parmalat.com

11. Lipetsk

Indesit, is a leading European appliance manufacturer which has been in Russia and the CIS since 1974. The company has two plants, one making fridges, the other washing machines in Lipetsk as well as the biggest white goods logistics centre in the Russian Federation. www.indesit.ru

12. Vladimir

Ferrero is the confectionery giant which created Nutella and brought Tic Tacs to the United States. It has a production facility in Vladimir. www.ferrero.ru

13. Samara

Pietro Barbaro's Prime Shipping, Pietro Barbaro is one of the oldest Italian ship-owning families. Prime Shipping, acquired by Pietro Barbaro Group in January 2006, is a shipping company in Samara primarily engaged in transporting crude product oil and its derivatives. www.primeshipping.ru

14. Chelyabinsk

Danieli ranks among the three largest suppliers of plants and equipment to the metals industry, worldwide. The company will help modernize and re-equip Mechel subsidiaries including Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant. www.danieli.com

15. Yekaterinburg

Parmalat is an Italian food group active in milk & dairy products and fruit-based beverages. It has  production facilities in Belgorod and Yekaterinburg. www.parmalat.com

16. Kemerovo

Coeclerici is a trading and logistics group headquartered in Milan. One of Russia's largest steam coal exporters, Coeclerici owns the Korchakol mine in the Kuzbass region. www.coeclerici.com

17. Komsomolsk-on-Amur

SuperJet International is a joint venture between Alenia Aeronautica (51%) and Sukhoi Holding Company (49%) to create the new Sukhoi Superjet 100 family of regional jetliners. Production takes place in Komsomolsk-on-Amur. www.superjetinternational.com/

The South Stream

The South Stream pipeline project will carry natural gas across the Black Sea to Bulgaria and then overland to Italy and Hungary. The pipeline is set to be finished by the end of 2015. It will carry 63 billion cubic meters of natural gas every year.
