Stalin's body used to lie beside that of Lenin at the Red Square's mausoleum.
Fifty-two years ago today, on Oct. 31, 1961, the body of Stalin was removed from the mausoleum on the Red Square where he lay beside Lenin. Fearing an uprising, officials waited until nightfall to cordon off the Red Square and secretly relocated Stalin's remains.
