Former Interior Minister Vladimir Rushailo has been appointed vice-president on safety issues at state-run oil pipeline monopoly Transneft, news reports said Wednesday.
An adviser to company president Igor Demin told Interfax that Rushailo was appointed on Tuesday.
The former minister's duties will include protecting the company's facilities and ensuring economic security through monitoring of contracts, Vedomosti reported.
He will oversee the work of the security service's 14,000 employees, whose primary directive is to prevent illicit tapping of Transneft's pipelines.
Rushailo served as Interior Minister from 1999 to 2001, followed by stints as secretary of the Security Council, executive secretary of the CIS and Federation Council member from the Arkhangelsk region.
