Government Fixes Sochi Transport and Service Prices

MTFares for transport and some other services will remain stable and affordable for the duration of the Olympic games in Sochi.

Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has signed an order to rein in transportation prices for passengers and cargo traveling to and from Sochi for the 2014 Winter Olympics and Paralympics.

Maximum prices will be set for passenger and cargo transport by air or rail within the Krasnodar region where Sochi is located for the period between Nov. 1 and April 16, 2014, the government said on its website Thursday.

Prices will also be frozen for shuttle buses, taxis and laundry and dry-cleaning services in Sochi between Jan. 7 and April 16, 2014.

Russia is obliged to prevent a hike in transport costs by terms of an international agreement which it signed in 2006 while bidding to host the games.
