Former Health andáSocial Development Minister andácurrent presidential aideáTatyana Golikovaáwill become theánew head ofáthe Audit Chamber, Kommersant reported Friday, citing theáchamber's outgoing chief ofástaff.
PresidentáVladimir Putináhas already signed theánecessary order, andáthe appointment could be confirmed as early as theábeginning ofáSeptember.
Theácurrent head ofáthe Audit Chamber Sergei Stepashin andáchief of staff Sergei Shakhrai will leave their positions after theáState Duma votes onáthe appointment. This vote could take place during theáfirst plenary session ofáthe fall season, scheduled foráSept. 10.
Aánew law prescribing theáre-election ofáall Audit Chamber members went intoáeffect ináApril 2013. Ináaddition toáGolikova, theácandidates included Stepashin andáAndrei Makarov, head ofáthe Duma committee onábudgets andátaxes.
Stepashin had theábroadest support across theáfour parties represented ináthe Duma, but, ináthe end, Putin chose his aide foráthe job.
Golikova served as deputy finance minister fromá1999 toá2007 andáran theáHealth andáSocial Development Ministry fromá2007 toá2012. She is expected toábring onáboard someone fromáher own circle toábe theáAudit Chamber's chief ofástaff.
Aásource fromáthe presidential administration confirmed theáappointment.
