Nissan has been holding back deliveries of its popular Almera model to Russian dealers, citing assembly quality problems at the AvtoVAZ plant in Tolyatti, where the cars are manufactured.
Managers of several large auto dealerships said quotas for the delivery of Nissan Almera cars to local dealers were significantly lower than previously announced and not enough to satisfy demand, Vedomosti reported.
"We were promised that mass deliveries of cars would begin in February. Then they were postponed until spring, and still only a few cars are reaching us," one manager said.
Concerns about the quality of Almeras manufactured at AvtoVAZ are what is causing the Japanese manufacturer to fall behind on its delivery schedule, said one car dealer, citing explanations from Nissan.
