Parliament Approves Bill against Job Advert Discrimination

The upper house of the parliament, the Federation Council, Wednesday approved a bill imposing fines for employers who publish requirements of gender, age and family status in their job adverts.

The bill imposes fines of 500-1,000 rubles ($15-$30) for individuals, 3,000-5,000 rubles ($90-$150) for individual entrepreneurs and 10,000-15,000 ($300-$450) for legal entities.

According to legislators, the bill would benefit elderly people, who have reached the retirement age, but are still willing to work.
