Today is Pushkin Day — the day which commemorates the birth of Russia's greatest ever poet, Alexander Pushkin, 244 years ago. In 2011, June 6 was also declared Russian Language Day — a move which was supported by the UN in line with their attempts to promote multilingualism and cultural diversity.
