The first Pushkin Festival took place in Moscow 133 years ago today, on June 5, 1880. The festival program included a number of literary recitals, as well as the unveiling of a statue to Alexander Pushkin, while notable guests included the writers Fyodor Dostoevsky and Alexander Turgenev.
