Trade Officials Could Be Sent to China, India, UAE

The Industry and Trade Ministry representatives could be placed in Russian embassies in China, India, United Arab Emirates and Cuba, according to a draft presidential decree published on the government's official website.

The ministry's trade representatives would promote Russian businesses abroad and assist in fulfilling Russia's international obligations to their host countries, Interfax reported, citing an explanatory note for the document published.

Ministry representatives would also assist Russian companies in establishing contacts with local authorities as well as provide Russian companies and federal agencies with necessary information.

Although Russian trade representatives would work in close contact with Russian embassies, they would not be considered diplomatic staff, according to the explanatory note.
