Former Education Minister Andrei Fursenko will oversee the Skolkovo innovation hub for the presidential administration, the project's president, billionaire Viktor Vekselberg, said Wednesday.
Fursenko, who served as education minister from 2004-08 and now works as a presidential aide, has not commented on his nomination.
But Vekselberg said he expects active work from the former minister, Interfax reported.
A physicist by background, Fursenko has been among the closest associates of President Vladimir Putin.
Skolkovo was previously overseen by Deputy Prime Minister Vladislav Surkov, who resigned from his post last week.
