Soviet leader Vladimir Lenin's mausoleum in Red Square will reopen to the public on May 15, half a year after it was closed for structural repairs, the Federal Guard Service said, Interfax reported.
The historic structure, a major tourist attraction, was closed in September and covered in a gigantic, white bubble to protect it from the elements while renovations were carried out.
It was the first major renovation in the 82-year-old building's history, a guard service spokesman said. Over time, parts of the building had begun to warp and lose their watertight seal.
Lenin's embalmed body, which has been on display almost continuously since his death in 1924 and viewed by millions, remained inside for the duration.
