Moscow Prisoner Flees Jail by Swapping Clothes With Brother

City police on Tuesday were searching for a suspected drug dealer who fled police custody and remained at large after exchanging clothes with his brother, Interfax reported.

Police said the suspect, Farukh Doshmanov, escaped from detention center No. 3 located at 11 Pervy Silikatny Proyezd near the Bogovaya metro station in north-central Moscow.

Police discovered Doshmanov was gone after he failed to show up for the evening roll call at 10:40 p.m. Monday.

The fugitive was able to walk out of the building after exchanging clothes with his brother, who visited him earlier that day, Interfax reported, citing an unidentified police official.

It was unclear whether police have arrested the brother and what punishment detention center officials might face for not preventing the escape.

Doshmanov was jailed on charges of the large-scale sale of illegal drugs and had faced up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
