Kaluga Police Checking Burned Body Found at Bus Stop

The Investigative Committee in the Kaluga region is checking reports that a man set himself on fire after a burned body was discovered at a bus stop.

The body was discovered at around 7 p.m. on Wednesday at a stop in the Vorotynsk village of the Babyninsky district, about 15 kilometers northwest of Kaluga, investigators said in a statement on the committee's website.

Local witnesses said they saw a man heading to the bus stop with a canister, and a passing driver said he noticed the man pour liquid on himself, the statement said.

Investigators are trying to establish the man's identity and determine what may have prompted him to commit suicide. The man appeared to be between 40 and 45 years old.
