Popular opposition blogger Rustem Adagamov has moved to the Czech Republic, he said on his Facebook page Friday.
In a post that has since been deleted, Adagamov said that he's already rented an apartment in Prague and intends to get furniture and a vehicle to travel around Europe.
He denied that the move had anything to do with allegations made by his ex-wife in an interview with the state-owned Russia Today television channel that he sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl years ago while living in Norway.
On Jan. 11, the Investigative Committee announced an investigation into the allegation. Authorities in Norway, however, never filed any charges against Adagamov.
Adagamov quit the Culture Ministry's public council soon after the allegations were made, slamming it as a "lie and a sham."
He has repeatedly denied the claims, calling them "nonsense," and many believe the allegations are a smear campaign orchestrated by the Kremlin to diminish the prominent blogger's influence after he was elected to the opposition's Coordination Council.
