Immigration officials have detained 107 migrant workers in western Moscow, Zalina Kornilova, a spokeswoman for the Federal Migration Service, said Thursday.
The migrants, all of whom worked as street cleaners, were living illegally in partially abandoned apartment buildings on Istrinskaya Ulitsa between Molodyozhnaya and Kuntsevskaya metro stations, Interfax reported.
Twenty-two of those detained did not have any documentation whatsoever, while 11 were living in Russia without proper registration.
"Due to immigration violations, 74 of the 107 detained foreign nationals will have the terms of their visiting permits reduced and 33 will be deported from the Russian Federation," Kornilova said.
The Federal Migration Service deported over 10,000 illegal migrants in Moscow in 2012.
The deportation of one illegal migrant costs the budget over 150,000 rubles ($5,000), immigration authorities say.
