Police detained the dean and co-founder of Moscow's Institute of Management and Law for attempting to have his colleague killed for 2.5 million rubles, a news report said Thursday.
"A police officer played the role [of the hitman], to whom the suspect made an advance payment of 500,000 rubles. After receiving a phone call that the job was done, the suspect arranged to meet on Wednesday at a restaurant and was detained as he handed over the remaining payment," a policeman told RIA-Novosti.
Police say the dean wanted his colleague, another co-founder of the institution, killed over a financial disagreement.
An investigation has been opened on the charge of attempted murder, which carries a maximum punishment of 15 years in prison.
