RZD Outsources Kursky Management

Russian Railways said Monday that it had transferred the management rights for Kursky Station to a unit of Mirax Group, which will run the renovated station for five years.

The unit, BFM-Kursky Vokzal, will be responsible for increasing the income generated by the station, as well as boosting the variety of services available to customers, Russian Railways, or RZD, said in a statement. Mirax designed the tender for the project.

In September, RZD unveiled the redesigned station, which saw some 700 million rubles ($19 million) of investment in improved information, navigation and safety systems, as well as space for stores.

"Kursky Station will become the pride of the Russian railway system and a sight to see in Moscow. Not only passengers waiting for their trains, but Muscovites and visitors to the capital will be able to spend their time in comfort," Sergei Abramov, head of RZD's stations department, said in the statement.
