U.S. President Barack Obama and President Dmitry Medvedev confirmed their interest in improving ties between their countries in a telephone conversation Monday, Interfax reported.
Medvedev told Obama that their two countries faced a common mission -- to tackle the global financial crisis.
Obama also called German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Nicolas Sarkozy on Monday, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said.
