3 Dead in Wage-Rage Shooting Spree

A yard cleaner shot dead his bosses at a state agency in the far eastern Kamchatka region before killing himself in a salary dispute, Itar-Tass reported Friday.

The unidentified man opened fire with a hunting rifle in the Rosregistration office whose yard he cleaned in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky on Friday, regional Investigative Committee head Vitaly Tkachov said.

The chief accountant Marina Khatskevitch died of gunshot wounds at the scene, while office head Tatyana Nikitina died in the hospital several hours later, Tkachov said.

He said the man left the building and went home, where he shot himself.

He said the shooter was dissatisfied with his wages and disliked his superiors. Office employers told investigators that the yard cleaner had repeatedly threatened the two women with violence.

A criminal investigation has been opened but might be closed with no charges being filed since the killer committed suicide, Tkachov said.
