Jolie Has What's 'Wanted' at Box Office

Angelina Jolie is the most "Wanted" woman at the Russian box office.

Her action thriller, directed by Russia's Timur Bekmambetov, brought in $11 million in Russia and the CIS on its opening weekend.

"Wanted" also opened at No. 1 in 17 other markets, including Poland, Turkey and Thailand, and was the top choice internationally, hauling in $32.5 million from 22 territories.

It opened at No. 2 in North America with $51 million, behind the animated robot love tale "WALL-E" with $63.1 million.

"Wanted" is the first big Hollywood film for Bekmambetov, who has enjoyed Russian hits, such as "Night Watch" and "Day Watch." The film is an ultraviolent adaptation from a series of graphic novels by Mark Millar and J.G. Jones.

The films with the biggest opening weekends in Russia and the CIS are "The Very Best Film," or "Samy Luchshy Film" ($14 million), "Pirates of the Caribbean 3" ($13.9 million) and "Shrek the Third" ($12.1 million).
