Buy Modern Art for a Good Cause

Time OutWorks like this one by Aidan Salakhova will be up for auction on March 17.
Sixty of Russia's most famous modern artists have donated their works to a charity auction to benefit a children's home in Suzdal. Artworks of Vladimir Dubosarsky, Alexander Vinogradov, Yury Avvakumov, Dmitry Vrubel, Oleg Kulik, and over fifty other people will be on view for four days before being sold at auction.

Among the donated art are two recent paintings by Vrubel and Viktoria Timofeyeva from the duo's "Evangelist Project," Kulik's photograph "Mongolian Horses," recent pencil drawings by Andrei Bartenev, Aidan Salakhova's painting "Persian Miniatures" and work from the "King of the Forest" cycle by AES+F group, which was filmed on Time Square in 2003 and touches on the theme of child exploitation.

The project's events aim to raise money for a new building to house an orphanage in Suzdal. Right now, the orphanage occupies an 18th-century building in central Suzdal that cannot be rebuilt to fit the needs of the 30 children that live there.
