McCain Visits Baghdad

BAGHDAD -- Senator John McCain arrived in Baghdad on Sunday for an unexpected visit, a U.S. government official said.

The visit by one of the foremost supporters of the 2003 invasion and soon-to-be Republican presidential nominee came on the 20th anniversary on Sunday of Saddam Hussein's Halabja attack.

"Senator McCain is in Iraq and will be meeting with Iraqi and U.S. officials," a U.S. Embassy official said.
