Patarkatsishvili Back Home

TBILISI, Georgia -- The body of Georgian opposition leader Badri Patarkatsishvili, who died in Britain this month, was brought back to his home country on Tuesday.

Patarkatsishvili, 52, collapsed at his home near London and died on Feb. 12. British pathologists have said he had severe heart disease that made him liable to sudden death.

British police are still conducting toxicological tests, expected to be completed in several weeks.

Georgian television channels showed the coffin being carried out of a plane that arrived Tuesday morning in the Georgian capital Tbilisi on a special flight from London.

The family said the funeral would be held on Thursday. (AP)
