Ingush Held in Bus Blast
A resident of Ingushetia has been detained on suspicion of detonating a bomb on a Stavropol region bus that killed two young women and injured 14 other passengers this month, Interfax reported Monday.
The suspect was detained in Kabardino-Balkaria and is believed to have hidden the explosive device in a fruit juice box packed with ball bearings, the Stavropol branch of the Federal Security Service said in a statement carried by Interfax. The bomb detonated after he left the bus Dec. 9 in the town of Nevinnomyssk, the statement said.
Witnesses identified the suspect as a passenger, and investigators found traces of hexogen on him, it said.
It was unclear when the suspect was arrested and whether he had been charged. (MT)
