An explosive device detonated at a bus stop in Oryol early Tuesday, killing one man.

The device exploded at around 4:30 a.m. at the city's Magazin bus stop, which was deserted apart from the man, who was believed to be in his 30s, Interfax reported.

"Investigators are working now on establishing the type of explosive device," said Olga Bernikova, a spokeswoman for local prosecutors, Interfax reported.

Photographs from the blast scene showed officers clearing up what appear to be pools of blood outside a restaurant.

"Despite the fact that the man was next to the epicenter of the explosion and his body was harmed, it is possible to establish his identity," Bernikova said, Gazeta.ru reported. "... We already have results in this case, but in the interests of the investigation they are not being disclosed."

The preliminary findings will be announced Wednesday, Bernikova said.

The bus stop is near two large stores and a police school, meaning it is very busy during business hours, Gazeta.ru reported.

Investigators are not ruling out terrorism as a possible motive, Interfax reported.
